Weiner Confesses He Lied, Press Rejoices

Fighting back tears, Anthony Weiner apologized to everyone for lying to the media regarding a picture of his underpants that he shared with a woman via Twitter. I'm trying to wonder why I should care. He didn't break the law, and he didn't hurt anyone aside from his wife. So this affects me how?

I propose that Republicans and the so-called liberal media treat this with the same degree of indifference demonstrated when the following Republicans admitted to have committed adultery:

David Vitter, Bob Livingston*, Dan Burton, Helen Chenoweth, Bill Bennett, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich*, Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggert, Jim Bakker, Tom Delay, Duke Cunningham, Bob Livingston, Bob Ney, Strom Thurmond, Henry Hyde*, Mark Foley, and Don Sherwood.

Of course, neither the Republicans nor the media will take this advice, but a guy can dream.

PS: Wiener is a moron. I appreciate that he skipped the attacks on his accusers that are customary whenever Republicans get caught, but he shouldn't have lied and he shouldn't have sent that photo. Serious aspersions have now been cast on the man's judgement.

PPS: Though Weiner is a moron, and a liar, who has demonstrated awful judgment, at least he's not a hypocrite. As dumb as Weiner is, at least he's not the sort of hypocritical politician who makes his name by denouncing immorality, and talking up family values and then turns out to be an adulterer.

* Denotes Republicans who led the successful attempt to impeach Bill Clinton, but turned out to be adulterers themselves.

PPPS Did you catch what I said? Weiner is a moron, etc.
